Flat tire forces airport closure

KUPANG, E.Nusa Tenggara: El Tari Airport in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara was closed down for three hours Friday after a police M-28 Skytruck airplane caught a flat tire and blocked the runway.
One of the airplane's tires burst on landing.
The airplane was carrying 19 people from Sabu Island for the Idul Fitri holidays.
Witnesses said the passengers were in shock, but safe.
There is no official explanation yet from East Nusa Tenggara Police about the incident.
Several flights had to be diverted to other airports. -- JP
