A Rajawali train traveling the Surabaya-Semarang route hit a Toyota Kijang van at Grobogan, Central Java, on Wednesday evening, killing four people inside the van and injuring seven others, Antara reported.

Grobogan Traffic Police chief Adj. Comr. Yayat Sarif Hidayat said the speeding train hit the Kijang van, with police registration number R 8727 KA, at an unmanned rail crossing between Gambrengan and Jambon stations.

Despite the accident, the train continued on its journey.

Yayat said the van carried 11 passengers, including three children. The dead bodies and the survivors were transferred to Yakkum Hospital in Purwodadi.

"We have placed a warning sign there. We remind people to be careful when crossing an unmanned rail crossing like that one," he said. (rid)
