PALU, C. Sulawesi: The Palu Police destroyed a suspected bomb found in the road in a shopping center area in Palu, Central Sulawesi, about 20 meters from the Operasi Ketupat of Idul Fitri security post Tuesday evening.
Palu Police chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. AB Sitinjak, confirmed the package was a bomb intentionally left at the public place to scare residents.
The package was found by two children, who were visiting the shopping center of Palu Plaza in Jl. Danau Poso, West Palu, with their parents to buy clothes.
The children, who thought the package was a toy, played with it as if it were a ball.
During their play, the package fell open, revealing what appeared to be a bomb. Bystanders called the police to report the bomb-like package.
Police who came to the location asked people to keep away distance and then exploded the package. -- JP
