The operator of Ancol leisure complex, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, expects this year’s Idul Fitri holiday season to generate Rp 40 billion (US$4.24 million) in revenues or up by Rp 5 billion compared to the same period last year.
President director Budi Karya Sumadi said that he was optimistic of the target as the number of visitors per day was already 10 percent above last year’s figures.
Last year, Budi said, the total number of visitors reached one million.
Most of the revenues, roughly about 80 percent, would come from ticket purchases, he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com in Jakarta on Saturday.
The main destination of the visitors, Budi said, was the Ancol beach and followed by the amusement park and restaurants.
The Ancol leisure complex or also known as Taman Impian Jaya Ancol was opened in 1966 and has since remained as the largest integrated tourism area in South East Asia, boasting an international championship golf course, a theme park, world-class hotels and other recreational facilities.
Ancol is planned to be expanded mainly through land reclamation along Jakarta's bay with the currently land reserve of over eighty hectares.
It is aiming for the Ancol Spektakuler 2015, a long term goal which include a major expansion over the current Dunia Fantasi theme park as well as the construction of Marina Sports Centre and Carnival Beach Club.
The expansion plan also include the addition of new hotels, service apartments and mice facilities. (and)
