Indonesia’s top seed Taufik Hidayat advances to the finals in Macau Open after defeating Malaysia’s Kuan Beng Hong in a straight set with 21-11 and 21-12 on Saturday.

Taufik will play against another Malaysian champion, Lee Chong Wei, in the finals on Sunday.

Head of Indonesian Badminton Association, Christian Hadinata, told tempointeraktif.com that the victory against Beng Hong in the semifinals could serve as a moral boost for Taufik.

“It will be a good test for Taufik if he could beat Lee. It would shot that he could still compete with younger players,” Christian said referring to Taufik’s career, which had been on the down after losing various competition this year.

If Taufik won the Open, he said, Indonesia’s achievement would be complete after the country's man-singles team had won this year’s championships in Taiwan, Japan and China. (and)
