Newly established Romanian think tank IRSEA wants to work with Indonesia's leading think tanks to strengthen links between Europe and Asia, says the body's founder and president Gheorghe Savuica.

The Romanian Institute for European-Asian Studies (IRSEA) was established in May 2008 as a nonprofit organization by former Romanian ambassador to Indonesia Savuica, Prof. Ilie Simon from Bucharest's Academy of Economic Studies, and political analyst Laurentiu Cristea.

"By establishing cooperation with Indonesian think tanks, IRSEA wants to contribute to the consolidation of mutual understanding, deeper engagement and cooperation between the people of Europe and Asia," Ambassador Savuica told The Jakarta Post on Sunday.

"We would like to promote Asian cultural values in Europe, and those of Europe in Asia."

Savuica, an expert on Southeast Asia, is in Jakarta to present a lecture on ASEAN at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on Wednesday.
