A traditional performance art takes stage at the Yogyakarta legislative council on Monday as part of a rally involving thousands of people demanding Sultan Hamengku Buwono X to remain as Yogyakarta’s governor. The Sultan, king of a local sultanate, will end his tenure as governor on Wednesday while the central government is yet to decide whether to extend Yogyakarta’s status as a special region.
