CIREBON, West Java: Police have arrested three men and a woman who allegedly sold liquor to fishermen who consumed the drink with mosquito repellent, resulting in 10 fatalities.
Cirebon Police chief Snr. Comr. Nasser Amir identified the male suspects as Dul Wahid, 45, Rawin, 41, and Wata, 38, and woman Karnisem, 35. All are residents of Karanganyar village, Pusakanegara district, Subang regency, West Java.
"We have declared them suspects and have seized bottles of liquor in their possession as evidence," Nasser said Monday.
Ten fishermen in Indramayu, West Java, died and at least 30 were injured and were still receiving treatment in four hospitals Monday after consuming the liquor at a recent party.
"We found high alcohol levels in the victims' blood. The victims mixed the liquor with mosquito repellent," Nasser said. -- JP
