JAKARTA: A U.S.-based NGO is this week distributing 1,200 pairs of shoes to children living around Ciliwung River.
The Susie Reizod Foundation, working with Sekar Melati Indonesia (a Foreign Ministry-run cooperation) and Jakarta's Family Welfare Movement, began the program Tuesday and will end it Wednesday.
"Because of the grant from the Kingdom Foundation, we are able to expand to meet the needs of children in other parts of the world, such as Indonesia, that we haven't served before," said Cynthia Dozier, president and founder of the group.
The foundation donates shoes to poor children in the U.S., Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indonesia. -- JP
