Storms in Bogor uprooted six trees in the Bogor Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, with another tree uprooted the day before.
On Monday afternoon, a Canarium nut tree fell onto the office of the Forest and Nature Conservation next to the park, damaging part of the roof.
As of Tuesday afternoon, workers were still cutting the fallen tree and removing the pieces (see photo).
Head of the park's collection maintenance, Tatang Darajat, said the six trees that fell on Tuesday were: glondongan (Polyalthia glance), damar (Agathis sp), a pine tree (Cassuarina sumatrana), saputangan (Maniltoa genifara) and sempur (Dillenia philippinensis).
"The old trees were uprooted because of the heavy rain over the past two days," Tatang said
"The Canarium nut tree damaged not only the roof of the office building, but also a precious plant in our collection: the 148-year-old runner Entada (Phaseoloides sp) which climbs up the nut tree."
Storms uprooted many trees in Greater Jakarta, including one in Cinere, South Jakarta, on Sunday.
The acacia tree fell on two young women who were riding a motorcycle. The women were trapped under the tree for about 10 minutes before firefighters and residents cut them out.
The two women suffered minor injuries to their hands and legs.
