Police chief vows to "bash" gambling

Newly appointed National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri has vowed to eradicate gambling.
"We will bash gambling," he told reporters after an official transfer of power from former police chief Gen. Sutanto in Depok on Thursday.
Danuri said he would summon regional police chiefs and high ranking officials to implement strict measures against gambling. He also vowed to reform the culture within the National Police.
"A change in culture must begin within the National Police," he said.
Sutanto said that he is confident Danuri would be able to lead to the betterment of the National Police. (and)

My understanding is that my wife’s Bar Manager has been arrested for playing pool in the bar (Jakarta) with his friends, with the winner getting 2000Rp (12p). Is the Crack Down on Gambling a licence for the police to extract payoffs for there Christmas bonus?. At the moment it looks like I have to pay about 40,000,000
to get him out-.

All new police say the same thing stop gambling and then sweep night clubs for drugs. please be original and stop all Expensive cars in the streets and have them prove where the money came from to be able to purchase this car!! then go to menteng and sweep all the homes with the same pretense! this was done in India with lots of success, if the police do this then they are doing what tax payers asked them to do... nobody cares about Gambling so get real!!

And yet another irritating brainless police chief flexing his muscles, and showing himself of with his tuff talk. Where did they dug up this guy?
He clearly wants to be favored by extreme Muslim groups using these statements. Is he afraid of them like the rest in Jakarta?
No mister Police chief, you don't have to crawl up their asses.
If you want to be taken seriously you should solve real issues and stop trying to win the popularity price among Muslims with putting people in Jail for playing cards or billiards an make a little money out of it.

Good idea but I think he should "bash" religous thugs. Gambling may be bad but it financed Jakarta's roads during Ali Sadikin's tenure. Religious gangs on the other hand achieve nothing, spread terror and give the country a bad name.

It is really annoying that new leaders pick on the popular ills. There are greater problems in Jakarta and the Police force than gambling.
Maybe he should look at the nightlubs the police and army own... where there are never drug raids.
What about corruption... isn't that more an urgent problem in Indonesian than gambling? The years I have lived in Jakarta, I have not seen any gambling, but corruption, I see and am exposed to every week.
Next he'll be wanting to bash porn and gay community.

this is a joke right ? 2 days before the month of ramadan i stopt my car at a police post in bandung , the cops inside the post where drunk (drinking VSOP) and they where gambling , so please dont tell the cops to do any thing about gambling , mabey it is a idea to change the law from the begining ,if some one would like to be a police officer, it is easy!!! all you need is money , that is where it go's wrong .. curuption from day one, mabey just mabey,its a good plan to have a police school , where you can only enter if your parents are normal people (no corupters), the person who enters has straight A's in school ,and does not need to pay to enter a police corps, same with goverment positions, if your father is rich ,and you are a idiot than you can still be a police officer, so mister National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri ,i wonder how much did you have to pay to get where you are now? i am tired of reading this, do someting about coruption!!!! it will take RI down , soon there will be only poor people in indonesia ,who fear the cops ..cops are supose to serve the people , all the do now is steal and think about them self's , 90% of the police officers in indonesia are mafia , mariuana is illial but most of the police officers love smoking it ??? change som laws please .. or just give me a job at the KPK i know about 30 people who i would arrest today , i will stop now ,sorry for my frustration but i cant see indonesia going down by coruptors and criminals , most of them police and goverment officials ..
