KUPANG, E. Nusa Tenggara: The Ende Police are still hunting for Ana Rambu Hiwa, an employee of the Marilonga Ende branch of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), in her hometown of Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, for allegedly stealing customer and bank deposits.

A BRI authority said the total amount stolen by Ana was Rp 1.5 billion (US$157,900), more than the Rp 500 million originally believed to have been taken.

Ende Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Bambang Sugiarto said Wednesday police did not find Ana in her hometown and would search in her husband's hometown of Bangka Belitung.

Previously, the police had raided the suspect's home in Jl. Kokos Raya in Ende and seized three account books and deposit documents, for investigation purposes.

The police suspect Ana had issued false account books to her victims. --JP
