President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Friday asked Indonesians to remain calm and collected in the face of stock and finance market crises.
"We have to remain calm, rational and collected while we try to prevent the (global) crisis from affecting the Indonesian economy," he said during a ceremony in Tangerang, Banten.
Although the world and Indonesia were having crisis in stock and finance market, the President said, it was too soon to call the Indonesian economy was in crisis.
The government is assuring education, health and education program funds, worth Rp 290 trillion (US$30.45 billion), are still being disbursed throughout the country. (dre)

Purwanto, what happens with foreign investment in Indonesia is no different to what happens in every other country. Actually, Indonesia has some of the strictist rules regarding foreign investment.
Stop blaming the foreigner. Indonesia is a republic - and has been for longer than Singapore and Malaysia. Indonesia is responsible for itself. You are no different than the ones who still blame the Dutch and Japanese for all their problems.
Merdeka.

I am not in the opinion that the recent Jakarta stock market simply caused by speculator only. Our government had let all foreign capital easily come to Indonesia in huge number. When the regional economic turmoil happened as the domino effect of global crisis, all foreign investors get rush to fly their capital home. The home shares feel shocked, government looks panic and the market remains uncertain. What we need now is not only a clear policy of the next few days but the leadership interference that trusted by market.

After living in Jakarta for over 4 years and seeing almost no road rage... I don't think SBY has much to worry about.
