Quake jolts Sukabumi, residents panicking

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale shocked Sukabumi regency in West Java Saturday morning, creating panic among the residents.

According to the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG), the epicenter of the quake was located 22 kilometers southwest of Sukabumi and 10 kilometer under the earth surface.

The Sukabumi city and three districts, Cibadak, Nagrak, and Pelabuhanratu, were affected by the quake.

“Almost everyone in my village ran out of their homes because of the quake. It was quite big,” Dayat, a villager in Nagrak Distric, told Antara news agency.

No damage or fatalities were reported. (dre)
