Dozens of students of the Indonesian Education University (UPI) in Bandung are staging a rally here Monday, demanding the university help 15 new students who cannot afford to pay the entrance fee.
The protesting students are also raising funds on Jl. Setiabudi, in front of the university, to help the students pay their fees of between Rp 5.8 million (US$593) and Rp 6.5 million each.
The university has given the 15 students an ultimatum, stating they must pay their fees by the end of this month. If they fail to comply, the university threatens to kick them out.
"This is an injustice against poor people," said Andi Sebastian, coordinator of the rally. (yuli)
