Rudi prepares movie on blogger

JAKARTA: Film director Rudi Soedjarwo is preparing a new movie about an Indonesian student in Australia who attracted public attention through his blog.

Rudi, who gain popularity through Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (What's Wrong with Cinta?), said adapting a blog diary to the wide screen could be quite hard.

"The thing is, this movie is adapted from a blog of a student who is still alive ... it's not fiction," Rudi was quoted was saying by detik.com on Friday.

The movie is based on the life of Raditya Dika, an Indonesian student in Australia who started the blog Kambing Jantan (male goat). The content of the blog has also been published as a book.

Rudi said in order to present more spontaneous characters, newcomers had been selected to play most of the roles in the film. Blogger Raditya Dika will play himself in the film.

"We decided to choose from those who looked like university students and not those who have acted in movies before," said Rudi.

Shooting will take place in Australia and is expected to start on Oct. 15, 2008. The movie is scheduled to be release in February 2009. -- JP
