DENPASAR: Civil servants working in the Denpasar municipal administration have been urged to boost their professionalism in order to improve public services.

The administration secretary, I Nyoman Aryana, said Monday that he would implement a reward and punishment system to help boost the professionalism among civil servants.

He said the implementation of the system was at the order of the Denpasar mayor and he was obliged to follow the order.

"This is our first gathering this month. We will meet on the first Monday of each month," he said.

As servants of the community, civil servants are required to demonstrate a professional attitude by being innovative in any developments so they can create a good image among the community, Aryana said.

Aryana also urged all heads of divisions to be role models for their subordinates and not the other way round. One way to set an example is to get to work on time, he added. -- JP
