JAKARTA: Railway widening to accommodate bidirectional double tracking from Central Jakarta's Manggarai station to Bekasi station requires the demolition of structures along the existing rail line.
Manson, spokesperson for the East Jakarta municipality, said Tuesday public order officers planned to tear down the 642 buildings Wednesday morning.
"We will start the demolition from around the Jatinegara station," he was quoted as saying by tempointeraktif.com.
The targeted structures are located in 10 subdistricts, including Cipinang, Kampung Melayu, Kebon Manggis, Pisangan Baru, Pisangan Timur and Rawabunga. -- JP
