Your comments on the performance of Governor Fauzi Bowo in his first year in office

Fauzi Bowo claims he is an expert on Jakarta, but why does he has no capability to manage the capital?

Apart from expecting you to develop better mass rapid transportation and to ease annual floods in the capital, we also hope that you will order subdistrict heads to give attention to water conservation, to plant more trees and expel street vendors, who occupy sidewalks, not only jeopardizing the image of the city, but also endangering pedestrians, who have to walk along road shoulders.

I see no significant performance in his first year. He may need to set up an additional unit reporting to him to control and provide him with feedback on his programs for improvement.

He has yet to find his way, he is talking more than acting. However, he has put up a lot of photos on the posters around the city of himself so I guess he wants people to recognize him when he passes by in Jakarta.

It is easy for us to make promises, but many of us are reluctant to fulfill our promises. Remember that a promise is a debt. If we cannot fulfill our promises, there will be consequences later. Fauzi has promised to make Jakarta a better place for living. Therefore, he should fulfill his promises.

After one year in office, Governor Fauzi Bowo has not made any breakthroughs in solving the classic problems in the capital like transportation, seasonal floods, slum areas, urbanization etc.

Although Fauzi has more than 30 years of experience as a city bureaucrat, he has not proved his good reputation in developing Jakarta.

I would appreciate it if Fauzi were capable of setting a program and implementing it bravely without doubt to develop Jakarta like what had been implemented by former Governor Ali Sadikin, who successfully changed Jakarta to become a modern city.

Criticizing Fauzi's performance for his slow moves while in his first year in office may be fair enough for the betterment of the city. But we also have to ask ourselves: Have we made any contribution to the city? Have we dumped garbage in the right place? Have we abided by the existing regulations?

Shouldn’t the headline read “Fauzi’s NON performance” Fauzi Bowo just like his old crony Sootie before him, has done nothing to alleviate Jakartans from the same old problems i.e. rubbish collection, floods, damaged roads and pavements the list is endless, when are we going to get someone who genuinely works for the good of the people of Jakarta, instead of lining their own pockets and thinking of number one.
