Home Minister Mardiyanto installed Ngadisah, head of research at the ministry, as the new rector of the troubled Public Administration Institute (IPDN), which trains civil servants.
Mardiyanto said in his speech that the new rector must improve the image of IPDN, which was recently rocked by a number of incidences of violence among students.
The minister asked the new rector to take action to improve the institute over the next two years, ensuring IPDN has a record clean of any violence and is the subject of no more "bad news" reports.
Also present at the swearing-in ceremony were acting rector Johanis Kaloh and former rector I Nyoman Sumaryadi, who had just been acquitted in the Sumedang District Court in West Java of criminal charges related to a student's death.
In past years, a number of students have been reported to have died as a result of violence at the campus. (yul)

messages for new elected rector of public administration institute:
1. the core of education is that how to create the leader future that lead and rule with heart power.
2. the reformation has to involve mind reform, I mean if violence culture still existed in students mind. the reformation will fail
3. the selection of students should be fairer. although there is poor student but able to fulfill the criteria, he or she should be there
4. I opt that punishment to students who drifted from the rule, would be more educative. physical stuffs should be reduced and make writing or some thing like that instead.
5. please let students to experience the freedom of talk and thought. it will disseminate creativity along not across the basic principles of life.
6. let the students get involved in various student university competitions nationwide, to reform their minds about how to build this country is not with violence but with good achievements in various fields such as sport, culture, science, etc.
