Diyan advances to semifinals in Bali

Indonesia’s pencak silat athlete Diyan Kristianto advances to the semifinals at the first Asian Beach Games after defeating Nghiep Le Cong from Vietnam with 5 – 0.

Diyan at the blue corner performed aggressively, throwing deadly punches and kicks with some of them managed to push Le Cong out of the fighting arena and treated for injuries twice.

Indonesian team coach Indro Catur said his fighters benefited from a longer adaptation process for fighting on beach sands.

Indro said Le Cong was a formidable opponent, but failed to exert his skills fully on sand.

Diyan will meet Amirul Ahat from Brunei Darussalam in the semis on Sunday. (and)
