Poll: SBY back at the top, Megawati down

A survey by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) shows that
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has climbed back to the top and has become the most popular presidential contender, leaving his closest competitor Megawati Soekarnoputri far behind.

Based on the survey conducted last month involving 1,239 respondents Yudhoyono tops the list of 20 presidential candidates, with 32 percent of the vote.

Next in line is former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, with 24 percent.

"After Megawati, a number of names trail far behind, including Wiranto (6 percent), Prabowo (5 percent), Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X (3 percent) and the others below 3 percent," LSI chief Syaiful Mujani was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.

Syaiful said that in the previous survey conducted in June, Megawati had shot to the top, replacing Yudhoyono after Yudhoyono's government had increased fuel prices.

"The results of the survey in June showed Megawati beating SBY by 30 percent to 24 percent. Now it's the other way around," Syaiful said.

He explained further that even if SBY faced only Megawati, the survey showed SBY would still be leading at 49 percent to her 30 percent, while 16 percent of the respondents had not answered. (rid)

Is there no one better than megawati at PDIP? That is so sad.
Just because she have "soekarno" in her name does not mean she have what Soekarno have. The apple could not have fallen farther from the tree.
We need someone fresh, some one intelligent, we need someone like obama, an intellectual rather than some tired politician hungry for power.

Guys......i would say who vote megawati are blind!!! why?? we know indonesia are poor but we must wake up we are not always being poor dont always asking something if you never change.why?? we must figth with the future that we can be better what SBY do is open your eyes to look reallty we need do something dont just think about poor.who make it poor you or our president we have to think this country should be much poor if we are lazy just hoping from the state to feeding poor people what we need is education,creative and skill. i agree with SBY,he try to make his people to understand althougth just a little but just stupidly wont a listen what he wish.we have to wake up open our eyes for the future to make it better,what will megawati do if she to be president???she just finish senior high school(sma) she dont even know what to do country,she can speack english didnt she?? so poor who vote megawati.what sby do for now is...for me i am indonesia i will choose SBY so that the rat who corrupt can get what they deserve.we will beg you to continue the state GO SBY GO......

Long Live Megawati

I will vote for Megawati any day any time. She is the one to lead Indonesia. I know she has made mistakes, but she won't make mistakes twice. SBY has done not very good job for Indonesia. I think it's Megawati time now. There are more poor people, more stupidity about economic decision. You know who is Jusuf Kalla. A shrewd business man that does not do anything to the economy.Come on Guys, Think Mature For Indonesia. Vote for Megawati Now. Yes she can, if you can, she can bring the change. She is not neoliberal, she want to bring new wind of change to the country. Yes, She Can! For Indonesia, Please.

Indonesia needs to change because nothing is working, and no one is better off now than they were before SBY. The best thing Indonesia could do is find someone new! Your election years are like old re-runs on TV. It's always the same people. Vote for someone under the age of 40 - 45 that has no government experience and is not part of the corrupt system. Vote for someone who is educated and has seen other parts of the world. Vote for someone who is willing to cause controversy and make changes. You need change!

I'm voting for Megawati, because SBY has ruined the economy and raised fuel prices too high. Life is too difficult because of him.
When Megawati was president, fuel was cheap and the Rupiah was strong (Rp 8500 to the US dollar). This is more proof that the military does not know how to deal with the economy. They only know about war and fighting. We need Megawati and her economic team to come back and make Indonesia strong again.

I reckon you should try and understand the economic factor as a whole, don't just pick lines out from the TV... and being ignorant. Let me ask u a simple question say u are suffering from a cancer illness, do u think ur treatment to treat your cancer would be totally painless and as easy as taking panadol? NO! it doesn't. This country has suffered in corruption period over more than 30 odd years. If you gonna vote, vote someone who is doing the best he/she can for the country not for their own interest. Maybe you should try and check out Magawati's background a little, such as her husband. I tell you, if you think Indonesia is doing bad, you should look at other 3rd countries. You'd have wished you'd better off here than there. SBY is trying out to do his best to clean up this country, and he needs the cabinet's support and the nations. *Megawati gonna keep the fuel price low?* over my dead body, if she does that, the long term affect on the country is far worst than you can imagine. Do you know by subsidizing fuel takes up a lot of the country's fund for further developing the nation as whole?

I can't believe that Indonesian put Megawati as a candidate, AGAIN !

In case you forget here's what I can think of her:

1) She only famous because of Her Father.

2) Anyone know her education background ?

3) If she will be a President - this is the Third Mistake that Indonesia ever made !First is Suharto, Second is Mr. Blind Man - Gus Dur, Third will be Megawati !

Please, before you vote, do your homework, what is been happening in the world also what is happening in your own country - and than you will know who will be the best fit for the job !

Stop listening to other people, and please educate yourself ! Its important if you want Indonesia to be better country - start with your self first ! Develop your self ! God Bless Indonesian People !
