The Jayapura City Police detained 10 activists in Papua for forcefully entering the local legislative council during a rally Monday.
Dozens of activists gathered at the Imbi Park in front of the office shouting support for the success of five members of a separatist movement who managed to draw international attention by meeting members of the British parliament.
Abepura Police precinct Adj. Comr. Domingus Rumaropen said the rally broke up peacefully at noon but that the police were still on guard for more rallies in other locations.
"Since this morning, we have been anticipating several spots," Dominggus said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.
The National Police announced on Friday that Indonesian Police were working with Interpol to arrest the five members of the separatist group. (ast)
