Cow drowned into the sea for being impregnated by human

Villagers from Julah in Tejakula, Buleleng, tow (see photo) a pregnant cow behind a boat into open sea as part of a local traditional ritual.
The cow, which is five months pregnant, was thrown out to the sea about 3 kilometers from land Monday. The villagers believe the animal was impregnated by a village elder.
During the ritual the man, who was caught red-handed having sexual intercourse with the cow two months ago, joined the boat trip in order to throw away his clothes to to symbolize him discarding his sins.
Julah customary village head Ketut Sidemen said the ritual, called gamya gamana, or freak weeding, and had been conducted there for generations. The decision to perform the ritual was made a local residents meeting.
In line with customary regulations, the perpetrator, identified only as PS, 70, was sanctioned to fund the expensive ceremony, which aimed to cleanse him of any bad influences.
Luh Ketut Suryani, a professor and activist, deplored the sancation against PS.
She said drowning a cow was baseless because sexual intercourse between a human being and am animal could not cause pregnancy due to the different chromosomes and genes of the two.
"The cow is not guilty, why shoud it be drowned? Why don't just use a symbol like what was done by the perpetrator?" she said.
Suryani's said she was concerned dealt with the financial situation of the owner, who lives below the poverty line.

keep in mind that when someone says local traditions is only his word. Probably these idiots are trying to make him pay for his doing by killing his cow.
of course just letting him throw his cloths is a joke. he should pay for his abuse of animals.

Next time somebody is giving you a sob story about poor 3rd world immigrants needing to come to the USA to better their lives, remember one thing. THEY ARE COW SCREWERS!!!

Hey Lee451... our "Western Imperialistic" views have been around for a little over 200 years so where do you get 3000 years from?
Furthermore our "Western Imperialistic" ways have helped cure many diseases and plague's in this world as well as determine that a baby calf could NEVER be created from the union of a human and a cow so the only thing their beliefs prove is that they are a culture full of morons.
More proof in the world that religion is going to wind up being the cause for this worlds destruction.

stupid cruel morons-what a backward country! and i just read some cleric has married a 12 yo old child and has plans for 2 more wives aged 7 and 9...oh i forgot- if something is allegedly sanctioned by religion/culture/tradition, then it's ok and can't be questioned!!

According to the dogma of the Cultural Diversity (Perversity) advocates, ALL cultures are equally valid and meaningful. Just because YOU ALL judge them by your imperialistic Western standards does not mean they are not more correct than you in their beliefs. In fact, the male-dominated, rapacious, imperialistic, pro-Christian, anti-woman, anti-child and anti-human Western Culture is responsible for every crime committed in the last 3000 years. Get with the program people! These people in Jakarta have been influenced by the Islamic culture that was forced upon them. Remember that the next leader of the United States could very well be the Mahdi, so tread lightly when you criticize them.

Not to worry, This should be the last cow to suffer this terrible fate. This falls under the GLBT right to self expression. Obamas got a plan to legalize this in his first 100 days because really, who are we to judge. Vive le revolution!!
