The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is continuing to investigate 10 prosecutors allegedly involved in a conspiracy to halt earlier probes into alleged bribery involving Bank Indonesia liquidity support (BLBI) funds, a deputy attorney general said Tuesday.
"We will investigate this fully because it is possible they were involved," Deputy Attorney General for Internal Affairs Darmono told a press conference.
The Corruption Court has sentenced former top prosecutor Urip Tri Gunawan to 20 years in prison for accepting a US$660,000 bribe from business owner Artalyta Suryani to stop investigating tycoon
Sjamsul Nursalim in the BLBI case, which had cost the state more than Rp 25 trillion in losses.
The verdict against Urip also suggests the 11-member team of prosecutors could be further implicated in the scandal; many believe Urip may not have been the only perpetrator. (ast)
