A Batavia Air Airbus jet heading for Manado failed to lift off at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Friday, for reasons yet to be clarified.
One passenger, Yusran Pane, told
kompas.com he had heard a strange sound coming from one of the plane's engines when as it headed down the runway.
"We suspected it was a metal scraping sound coming from the engine. It made us panic," Yusran said.
On hearing the noise, Pilot Anjar Setiaji aborted the takeoff and parked the plane for 20 minutes before making a second attempt to take off.
The plane remained for a further 10 minutes on the runway before finally taking off safely. The plane transited at an airport in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. (anb)

"waited 20 minutes" before attempting to take off again.
This reads like no-one even bothered to check it out.
If thats the case, then how can we trust that airline!
