Bali police has beefed up supervision on boats and ships coming and entering the island on fear of bomb attacks following the death executions of Bali bombers on Sunday.
“Watch out for every ship from other region. We should prevent dangerous substances from getting inside the island,” Bali chief police Insp. Gen. Ashikin told his subordinates and the island's people, as reported by Antara news agency.
Ashikin said that the Bali has increased supervision and examination over vehicles and goods traffic on the island's waters.
“We should never let our guards down, especially with the island had had bomb attacks twice,” he said.
Dozens of personnel of the detective, bomb, anti-terror and anti-riot squads have been deployed at major entrances to the island, including at Gilimanuk, Padangbai, Benoa and Celukan Bawang Seaports, as well as at Ngurah Rai Airport. Around 3,500 police are on the streets providing additional security.
The 2002 Bali bombings targetted a popular tourist area in Kuta and took the lives of 202 people, most of whom were foreign tourists. (dre)
