Local police in West Denpasar, Bali, have set up a checkpoint at the Ubung bus station to examine incoming passengers' luggage after the execution of the Bali bombers Amrozi, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra.

"We want to maintain a safe situation after the execution. We're focusing on passengers from Java who may bring weapons, explosive materials or drugs," Denpasar Police chief Adj. Comr. I.B. Mantra said Tuesday.

Mantra said the operation, scheduled to last a week, was situated at the bus station as it was the main entry point for people coming into the city by land transportation.

After the first day of the operation, the police had found no suspicious items on buses carrying passengers mostly from Semarang, Central Java and Yogyakarta.
