Rihanna cancels concert over security fears

The management of pop singer Rihanna has canceled her Friday concert in Jakarta for security reasons, the event promoter's spokesperson Troy Waroka announced on Thursday.

"The concert will be postponed until January or February," Troy aid, as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.

Troy explained that Rihanna's management considered Indonesia's security to still be on alert. He suspected the sudden decision had something to do with the execution of three convicted terrorists on Sunday.

"They said Indonesia's security is not supportive," Troy said, adding that a team had been sent to Singapore to lobby the management to change its decision.

A laborious and costly preparation had been arranged for the Friday concert, Troy said, including the rental of a private jet scheduled to pick up Rihanna from Singapore, complete with and a security unit on par with those used to escort state officials.

A cancellation of the concert would mean billions of rupiah worth of losses, Troy added.

"All tickets are already sold out," he said, adding that the promoter would give a full refund to all customers. (and)

Your attitude has a lack of faith in our anti terrorism law enforcement both military and police, lack of faith in our people, and a general retarded point of view on the world.

These so called Jihad loving Islamist want you to cower at home. They want you to fear the outside world.

By continuing your life as normal, to go to concerts, clubs, cafe's, restaurants, malls. You are blattantly responding to thier terrorism and thier small impotent view on life by saying, "Screw You!"

These Terrorists wish to put you in chains, they want you to live in mud huts and do what you are told by them. They want you to forget how to read, and have your every emotion, thought, and action to come from them.

I wish someone would round up these people, families and anyone that wishes to protest the so called corrupting influence of western side of life stick em on an island, and let them live thier life with no outside contact or contact with us who are corrupted by modernity.

Back to you. She would have been provided presidential level security (Same security if say the president of the united states or perhaps the prime minister of Singapore). When will we realize that everytime we cringe in fear of terrorist attacks they win.

I thought, it was a good decision. She (and her management) took right decision. Beyond her professionalism, the cancellation of the concert shouldn't be blamed. If something happened when the concert held, it would be another disastrous moment for Indonesia. Terrorist' modus operandi is always look for crowd to blast the bomb (considering the convicted of the terrorist was shoot down in the death penalty, therefore raise a worried that the "terrorist-group" would take revenge to their death).

Well.....maybe this will help. Maybe it a blessing as I was watching her in Singapore and was very pissed off and felt ripped off by her concert and attitude. Its started late at 835pm and ended bout 930pm.... There were ONLY 1 costume change, her singing were really off key and this the best part......She started the song with her mic not working. It was only her backing track playing, the show went on for 2 whole songs while she was not singing and walking up and down the stage making a fuss and bitching to everyone about her mic not working. She was very unprofessional as a ture preformer would not have done that. She even went to side of stage and scolded her sound people in front of all the fans and there were a live feed on the screens. I paid S$225 for my ticket so I was in front, Rihanna was 5 meters away so I and many others saw how "DIVA" she was but a true "DIVA" would have stop the show if after 2 songs mic dont work and start again once mics are fix. SO long story. The whole show was less than an hour from mic screw up to encore.

They are looking down on indonesia's security. This is stereotyping. Im very dissapointed and un-happy about this. It was my sister's birthday. and this was suppose to be her birthday gift. now everything is ruined. i feel sorry for Mr Troy too.

We are so very disappointed about this. This shouldn't happen if Indonesia has good security.
Hopefully one day we can enjoy a good safe way of life in Indonesia, free from Bomb threats etc. We can buy a ticket to a concert and go and watch it. Not just buy a ticket and get worried if the concert will go ahead or be cancelled. Please dont make us get excited and let us down .. again again and again.. too much..enough.. MERDEKAA
