Incumbent Jakarta Police Chief Ir.Gen. Adang Firman would soon be replaced with police academy lecturer Ir.Gen. Wahyono, an official said Saturday.
National Police spokesman Abubakar Nataprawira said Adang was to be succeeded by Wahyono as the former was due to enter retirement in December 2008.
"This restructuring is due to an officer who is about to retire. Whenever one position is replaced, the rest in the structure would also shift," he said, as reported by
Antara news agency.
Adang, who graduated from the National Police Academy in 1973, is due to retire on Dec. 31. He is also a cohort of former National Police Chief Sutanto and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono .
Wahyono, who graduated from the Academy in 1976, was previously a lecturer at the National Police School of Staff and Leadership (Sespim). He was also deputy chief of the National Police's Intelligence Division.
Apart from Adang, the National Police Chief will also be replacing incumbent Central Java Police Chief Ir.Gen. FX Sunarno with Ir.Gen. Alex Bambang, who previously served as the National Police's Telematics Division Head.
Incumbent National Police Traffic Director Brig.Gen. Yudi Susharyanto will succeed Ir.Gen Alex Bambang.
Deputy National Police Traffic Director Djoko Susilo will subsequently replace Susharyanto.
