The Jakarta administration has promised to strictly enforce anti-smoking regulations, which have been widely ignored since being passed in 2005. How can we effectively protect the rights of nonsmokers? Send your opinions by SMS to +628111872772 or by e-mail to readersforum@thejakartapost.com. Please include your name and city.

We should start from small things in reducing pollution. What's wrong with *not smoking* inside the buildings? Every smokers should stop smoking at all and everywhere indeed.

Smokers have no rights, except in their own home, but only if they do not subject their children to smoke. Why on earth should anybody have to put up with second hand smoke anywhere? Go in or out an office, mall, hospital and you have to endure a "curtain" of smoke from smokers who are not allowed to smoke inside these buildings. Why does anybody have to endure this? It is high time government enforce the no-smoking by-law. NGO's should not be involved in enforcing the law but could lobby government on ways and means to curb tobacco use, especially by children. However, they fight an uphill battle as our law makers are in the pocket of the tobacco industry. It is obvious that our lawmakers are only concerned about their own pockets; not in the health of the nation!

Please ban cars, motorcycles, buses, heavy trucks and others first then ban smoking of cigarette.
