Search and rescue teams on Sunday found the bodies of three more people killed in a torrential rain-triggered landslide that buried homes in Kampung Nyalindung in Cianjur, West Java.

Seven bodies have now been recovered and three people remain missing since the accident on Thursday.

Another landslide on Saturday destroyed 77 homes in nearby Cibanggala, forcing 440 people to flee. Widespread deforestation and land conversions have been blamed for scale of the disasters.

Rudi Syahdiar, head of an Indonesian Red Cross team in the area, said they had found on Sunday the bodies of Yayang, Suryana and four-year-old Reza, Tempointeraktif.com reported.

More volunteers have arrived to help, and government logistics help has begun trickling in, he added. (dre)
