The Constitutional Court is to begin hearing Monday the suit filed against the recent East Java gubernatorial election results by the losing pair of candidates Khofifah Indar Parawansa and
Mudjiono.
They will be represented by a team of 25 lawyers,
Tempointeraktif.com reported. Constitutional Court Chief Mahfud M.D. is scheduled to lead the trial's opening session, which will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Khofifah and her running mate were dissatisfied by the results of the vote count, which contradicted five quick counts conducted on polling day.
The East Java elections commission finalized the narrow win, stating the candidate pair Soekarwo and Saifullah Yusuf won by 50.20 percent with 7,729,944 votes while Jhofifah-Mudjiono took 49.80 percent, or 7,669,721 votes. (dre)
