The Attorney General's Office (AGO) spent 11 hours Tuesday in questioning former justice and human rights minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra in relation to a graft case in a government online service that causes Rp 400 billion in state losses.

The AGO investigators questioned the former minister of justice and human rights since 10 a.m. and finished it by 9:40 p.m.

Upon his departure, Yusril, who held the post as a minister at that time, only briefly said that he was given 45 questions.

“I came at the office at 10 a.m. To testify as a witness for three suspects,” he told reporters.

The suspects are all former former Director General of General Law at the ministry from 2001 until present: Syamsuddin Manan Sinaga, Romli Atmasasmita and Zulkarnain Yunus.

The case revolves around on the embezzlement of fees acquired from a web-based legal administration system run by the ministry. The system has been operational since 2001 and is accessible through the ministry's website www.sisminbakum.com.

Legal entities wishing to organize their businesses through the website can nominate notaries to pay their fees for the services. For example, determining profits online costs Rp 250,000 while establishing an entity costs Rp 1 million. (ewd)
