In an attempt to mitigate the process to attain development permits in Tang-erang, the regency administration’s newly established permit body has opened several counters at shopping malls and business centers.
“These permit service counters are available at shopping malls and trade centers across the regency,” H.M. Hidayat, head of the Tangerang Integrated Permits Service Body (BP2T), said Thursday.
He said the counters were operated by agency working groups based in six populated districts in the regency: Pondok Aren, Serpong, Pasar Kamis, Mauk, Kosambi and Balaraja.
Residents of Pondok Aren district can register for permits at Bintaro Plaza, while those living in Serpong can go to Bumi Serpong Damai Junction.
Residents of Kelapa Dua and Curug districts can apply at the BP2T counter at Summarecon Mall Serpong, and those from Kosambi district can go to a counter at a warehouse complex in Kosambi.
However, residents of Mauk, Balaraja and Pasar Kemis must apply at their respective district administration offices as no BP2T counters have been set up in those areas.
The BP2T opened the door to the public on Aug. 17 at the Tangerang regency administration center in the regency's capital of Tigaraksa, a district far from the populated housing complexes characteristic of southwestern Tangerang.
The centers issue various permits, ranging from for building construction and commercial use of ground water to those needed to establish schools or businesses.
Before the establishment of the BP2T, residents had to go to their respective administration offices to register for permits.
"The integrated service and the opening of the permit service counters at shopping malls have made things easier for applicants to get the permits they need," Hidayat added.
However, Tangerang Regent Ismet Iskandar soley retains the authority to issue permits for large businesses or development projects, he said.
