Something about Michelle

A- A A+

Having been voted by numeours fashion magazines and daily newspapers as one of the best dressed women in the United States, word has it, American Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is trying to get Michelle Obama on the cover of her magazine.

If granted, Obama would join Hillary Clinton as the only first ladies to ever grace the cover of this influential magazine.

Analysts say Michelle Obama, 44, made a great contribution to her husband's victory. The mother of two daughters -- Shasha and Maila -- was an undergraduate student of Princeton University before graduating from Harvard Law.

She definitely bolstered support for Barrack Obama. A poll showed 60 percent of voters said they would get behind Obama because they loved the way his wife ran her sideline campaign.

Newsweek online reported recently that Michelle drew audiences of more than 1,000 supporters even when campaigning on her own.

With her vision, strong image and of course style, she captured her voters' hearts. Above all her 'political achievements', what stands out however is her distinctive fashion taste.

She has her shape fixed on pencil dresses and skirts, which give an impression of power through self-dress. This influences working women starved for a new look for their working outfits. Looking through her range of high-end brands and mass production labels, Michelle Obama represents herself as 'today's' lady.

The victory dress, worn at Grant park when Obama won the presidency, was Narciso Rodriguez's spring-summer 09 collection, black satin scarlet embroidered silk chiffon dress.

It won over her fans.

When choosing designers, Michelle Obama opts for younger designers such as Narciso Rodriguez, emerging Thai-born designer Thakoon Panichgul with his the floral print dress and Chicago based designers Donna Ricco and Maria Pinto with their distinctive shapes & designs.

Michelle promised that she would ask Maria Pinto to come with the family to D.C. It seems that Maria Pinto will soon be to Obama what designer Oleg Cassini was to Jackie Kennedy.

When she appeared on the Tonight show with Jay Leno, she wore a J Crew ensemble, and at another point in the campaign wore a H&M striped dress. With outfits like these, she has proven that power dressing doesn't always have to be expensive.

Michelle Obama has it. The grace and style of the legendary Jackie Kennedy and the sassy chic of France's first lady Carla Bruni- Sarkozy.

Michelle Obama soon will be inaugurated as the most powerful lady in United States, yet apparently she likes to keep to herself while remaining warm, approachable but still compelling.

Her preference for flats is, in my opinion, a deliberate choice so she can move around gracefully, giving a more casual touch and making a more accesible impression.

The White House needs another strong woman, a woman with power, brains, attitude and style. This could bring about broad changes to many aspects of America and the world, especially the need to change the rules of the past eight years. I say, for the best!
