WEEKENDER ANNIVERSARY: PICK A COVER

It has now been two years, and 23 editions, of the WEEKENDER. In our penultimate edition of 2008 (the January 2009 edition will be published in mid-December), before we start afresh in the new year with some exciting changes to the magazine, we are inviting readers to choose their favorite covers.

The covers have included famous faces, like funny man Butet Kartaredjasa gracing the very first edition,  donut king Johnny Andrean, pensive and suddenly grown up teen star Sherina, gender-bending pretty boy Ivan Gunawan and heart-throb Nicholas Saputra posed against the backdrop of the Jakarta skyline. We have also featured lesser-known subjects, including a security guard with educational aspirations, the face of a beautiful teen model prepped for plastic surgery and a hapless duck about to meet its maker.

Several illustrations have been used on the cover: One each from Admira Pustika and Martin Dima, and five by Staven Andersen. Staven, a great talent, has created such memorable images as a modern-day yogi balancing the sacred and the profane, the changing face of the expat and, last month, the ballooning waistlines of young urban professionals.
