JAKARTA: Internet cafes in Jakarta are requested to record their customers' IDs in a guest book to prevent cyber crime, which is on the increase in the city, a police officer said at a cyber crime seminar Saturday.
"Users in Internet cafes use fake usernames when they log in. It gives some cyber criminals a chance to perform cyber crimes," Adj. Sr. Comr. Edy Hartono said, as quoted by kompas.com.
Edy said Internet cafe providers would be the first to be introduced to the guest book program.
Under the proposed system, Internet cafe owners are required to list and match the data in the guest book with the customers' identification cards. --JP
