YOGYAKARTA: A hot argument broke out Monday during Djoko "Blue Energy" Suprapto's trial in the Bantul Court, in which Djoko is being sued by the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY), for alleged fraud.
Djoko, the inventor of alternative technology purported to process alternative fuel from water, had read his defense statement into the court record Thursday.
Djoko was sued for allegedly defrauding UMY by offering them bogus technology at the cost of Rp 1.3 billion (US$105,691).
"We do hope the panel of judges completely rejects Djoko Suprapto's defense and continues with our claim," said Rini Tyas Utami, a member of UMY's legal team.
Djoko had refuted all the accusation brought against him in his defending statement, saying he had not promise anything to UMY and the transaction had not taken place in Yogyakarta but in Rejoso, Nganjuk, East Java.
Djoko also said UMY had misinterpreted the term stabilizer to mean power plant. -- JP
