JAKARTA: The customs office at Tanjung Priok port, North Jakarta, confiscated 9,953 bottles and 1,400 cartons of liquor Monday.

Office head Kushari Supriyanto on Tuesday said the importer allegedly manipulated the data reported to the customs office.

"We believe the manipulation was made to dodge the liquor import limitation. In the data, the importer stated that the goods were used equipment," he was quoted as saying by kompas.com.

The estimated value of the confiscated goods was Rp 6.4 billion (US$533,333). -- JP
