JAKARTA: After years of not being in full operation, the Cilincing fish auction market will soon made active again by the North Jakarta administration.
Head of the Cilincing fish auction market, Abdul Razak, was quoted Friday by beritajakarta.com as saying, "The 30-meter long area of dock that is currently being constructed for the market is expected to be completed by the end of December.
"By the beginning of next year, the auction will be functioning again."
The Cilincing auction market, built at a cost of Rp 7 billion in 1999, was only temporarily in operation in 2005. The fishermen are more accustomed to selling their fish in an old market in their own area.
The auction market, which covers 500 square meters, has been inactive since 2006.
The North Jakarta administration had built three other auction markets including Muara Angke, Kali Baru and Muara Baru. All of them are active in fish trading activities. -- JP
