JAKARTA: Hundreds of residents in Angke Indah in Tambora district, West Jakarta, staged a protest against Irwansyah, the subdistrict office head, for allegedly impregnating his neighbor Suhesti, or Eneng, 16.
The residents wanted Irwansyah to resign or be dismissed. "Although he has settled the matter (with Eneng's family), we still want him to leave office," Ugi, a resident, was quoted as saying by kompas.com on Tuesday.
While the residents staged the protest at the subdistrict office, a member of subdistrict board, Karna, was on his way to meet the district office head to deliver the residents' message.
The deputy head of Angke Indah subdistrict office, Djaharuddin, said the matter would be settled between Irwansyah and Eneng's family.
"As for a possible dismissal, we will leave the matter to our superiors," he said.
During the protest, Irwansyah was nowhere to be found. -- JP
