About 70 Lapindo mudflow victims have set up camp in front of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Kuningan, South Jakarta on Wednesday once they could not get satisfaction from the government on the payment of overdue compensation.
Protest coordinator Soemitro said Wednesday the victims would remain where they were because they had no other place to shelter themselves.
"We are very disappointed with the government and we will wait here, despite the rain and heat," he said, as quoted by

He said embassy officials had met with them and were considering whether the embassy could accommodate them.
During the two days of rallies, the protesters have demanded the government put pressure on PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya, a subsidiary of energy company PT Lapindo Brantas, to pay the remaining 80 percent of compensation required by law. (ewd)
