A prominent pluralism campaigner, Siti Musdah Mulia, was recently named winner of the 2008 Yap Thiam Hien human rights award, for her "courage and obstinacy in advocating civil liberties and inclusive Islam" in Indonesia.
Musdah was praised as a female figure advocating pluralism, women's rights in Islam, civil liberties and equal constitutional rights for every citizen, senior lawyer and human rights activist
Todung Mulya Lubis, a member of the committee of jurors for the award, said here on Thursday.
"She has been at the forefront of those rejecting the pornography bill, which violates many rights of individuals. She has been fighting for shaded, dialogical and inclusive representation of Islam.

Todung said Musdah had been chosen from seven others who had made it through to the final selection stages, but refused to mention other names.
