In an effort to involve the community in public administration, Tangerang regency is holding its first-ever design contest -- to improve a 5.2-kilometer road leading to the administrative office complex.
Through the contest, the administration aims to establish the regency's urban identity, incorporating local culture and the city's image, Tangerang advertising and park division head M. Barnas Afifi said Friday.
"The area to be redesigned is 5.2 kilometers long and 40 meters wide. The design should give visitors a sense of Tangerang's identity as they travel along the road," he said.
Architecture students and professionals can enter the contest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org between Dec. 1 and 10. Entries must be submitted by Dec. 22 at the latest, and will be displayed publicly in the administration's multi-function hall from Dec. 23 to 24.
The winning designs will be announced on Dec. 27. First, second and third places will be awarded Rp 25 million, Rp 15 million and Rp 10 million, respectively.
