Four arrested for drug possession

Drug division officers of the Bali Police have arrested two people, identified only as MI and YY, for allegedly producing and selling psychotropic capsules in two different locations in Denpasar.
The police made the arrests on Nov. 24, but only reported the case on Thursday. YY, 28, was nabbed on Jl. Kutat Lestari, Sanur, when police found a capsule wrapped in plastic inside her purse.
She told the police she was going to sell the capsule, which she got from MI. Around an hour later, police trapped MI, 25, on Jl. Raya Sesetan and confiscated 23 capsules, apparently of the same substance, inside his bag.
MI admitted that he made the powder in the capsules by grinding together nausea pills, flour and green food dye.
Head of the police's documentation and reports division, Adj. Sr. Comr. Made Parwatha, said police were still examining the capsules to determine the their nature and their possible effects on humans.
"MI said he only recently began experimenting with the productions of the capsules. He had consumed them and said they made him drunk," he said.
The two suspects were charged with violating Law No. 5/1997 on psychotropic drugs, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp 750,000 (US$62).
In a separate drug operation on Nov. 22, police arrested two men in different locations in Kuta, Badung, for possession of crystal methamphetamine.
A suspect identified only as ND, 38, was arrested after police found him with 0.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, known as shabu-shabu or simply meth.
They raided his house on Jl. Simpati, Tuban, and found a pipe for inhaling the drug, a police report said.
ND, who worked as a driver, said he bought the shabu-shabu, worth Rp 700,000, from WS, who was arrested later at his house on Jl. Nuansa Utama, Jimbaran.
During a raid, police found a plastic package containing 0.4 grams of meth near his gate along with seven plastic packages containing 2.3 grams of shabu-shabu on the pillar of religious statue.
WS, 39, told the police he bought the drug from one HCW, from Jakarta. To date, HCW remains a fugitive.
