The Finance Ministry has prepared several schemes for fuel price cuts, said Anggito Abimanyu, fiscal policy head at the ministry, on Monday.
"It's been (discussed) and we are waiting for a cabinet decision," he said, as quoted by
Tempointeraktif.com. He declined, however, to give details of the government plan.
Anggito said the ministry would announce the price-cut plans after a cabinet plenary session next week at the latest. "Let's hope it can be done sooner," he said.
Separately on Monday, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said the government was planning to cut diesel fuel and subsidized gasoline prices early next year.
The government also plans to revoke the gasoline subsidy and increase the diesel fuel subsidy because the second brings greater benefit to industry and trade. (dre)
