Man Pombili, a 31-year-old Indonesian man, faced charges for human trafficking at a court in Perth, Australia, on Monday,
Tempointeraktif.com reported.
Man faces a maximum of 20 years in jail if found guilty of organizing an attempt to smuggle people into that country.
He was arrested Nov. 19 in waters near Ashmore Islands. He was captaining a small boat with two crew members and 10 passengers, none of whom carried legal documents allowing them to enter Australia.
The Australian Federal police soon after named Man as a suspect for human trafficking. He was detained on Christmas Island before being transferred to Perth. (dre)
