State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has reduced the price of its high-octane fuels as of Wednesday, the company said in a press statement.

Pertamina lowered the prices of its non-subsidized high-octane Pertamax, Pertamax Plus and Bio Pertamax by Rp 300 (around 3 US cents) per liter to Rp 6,500 a liter, Rp 6,800 per liter and Rp 6,500 per liter, respectively.

"The price cuts are effective as of Dec. 10, 2008, at all Pertamina marketing units," the statement read.

Earlier this week, the Finance Ministry said the government planned to cut subsidized fuel prices also, saying several schemes were to be discussed next week. (dre)
