A contingent of the Indonesian Military (TNI) peacekeeping forces arrived in Indonesia after serving a one year assignment under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), in South Lebanon.
Some 850 members of the Garuda XXIII-B/UNIFIL contingent, were welcomed by TNI chief Gen. Djoko Santoso at TNI headquarters in Cilangkap, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
"In joining the mission we were not only answering the world's call, but more importantly showing the world we love peace," Djoko said in his speech, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Last month, TNI sent more than 1,000 personnel to Lebanon as a substitution for the returning UNIFIL contingent. (dre)
